New 2006 Adelaide Metropolitan aerial photography ensures the latest high resolution Orthophotography coverage

AEROmetrex Pty Ltd has completed the aerial photography program of updating the high resolution orthophotography of metropolitan Adelaide.

Photographed during mid February 2006, the new Vexcel UltraCamD large format digital aerial camera with imagery captured at 15cm pixel resolution, the coverage extends from Gawler in the north to Sellicks Beach in the South and includes the east - west extent from the Adelaide Hills to the metropolitan coastline.

This complete coverage will provide some 2,000 1km x 1km tiles of 15cm pixel high resolution orthophotographs.

The digital camera offers 16-bit resolution in all 4 bands, (red, blue, green and near-infrared) with the imagery being supplied as 8-bit colour digital orthphotography in high resolution formats either as tiles or as an .ecw mosaic that will suit all spatial software packages.

Digital photogrammetric aerotriangulation using ground control and massive redundancy of photogrammetric “tie” control from stereo models has facilitated the generation of high precision 15cm pixel the digital orthophotographs.

Applying specifically written software, the AEROblend process takes into account the radiometric (intensity and colour) differences between photographs to ensure seamless joins between images and tiles.

Such is the high resolution and with a spatial accuracy of 0.2 metres, features such as playground equipment, sewage pit covers, traffic and telegraph poles are easily identified providing a valuable and graphic tool for local government and utilities in asset management.
