Digital Colour Infra Red

The infrared film has an emulsion layer sensitive to the near infra-red part of the light spectrum.
This infrared region is invisible to the human eye, but can be "viewed" when the film is chemically
developed and digitally scanned for computers. Infrared is used to detect chlorophyll from healthy
plants and fruit; conversely, diseased or "stressed" plants will be discriminated by significantly
lower chlorophyll detection in the infrared. The "stress" can be water, soil, or nutrient related.
Infrared also is a very good discriminator between dry and wet soil.
