NDVI

The NDVI is calculated from the reflected solar radiation in the near-infrared and red
wavelengths bands of the electromagnetic spectrum.
AEROmetrex has utilized the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI)
to highlight variations in vigour for a variety of crops - particularly in vines.
NDVI values vary with absorption of red light by plant chlorophyll and the reflection
of infrared radiation by water-filled leaf cells. It is this relationship with photosynthesis
that occurs in the green parts of plant material that the NDVI is generally used to estimate the
"greenness" in vegetation.
