Digital Terrain Models

A core service of AEROmetrex is the generation of highly accurate Digital Terrain Models (DTM's)
for a wide range of applications. The 1st Order Stereo Workstations at AEROmetrex are calibrated
to enable sufficient accuracies from large scale aerial photography to meet engineering specifications.
High precision DTM's for flood plain mapping and management are an increasing request AEROmetrex
has provided to local government and private sector engineers.
AEROmetrex utilises high end automatic DTM capture software combined with rigorous checking
and editing of the DTM's in a stereo 3D environment. AEROmetrex makes use of a regular grid of DTM points,
irregular spot heights and breakline data to best define the shape of the terrain.
Breaklines are special 3D lines used to form the surface where there are sudden changes in the terrain
and can be classified as hard or soft. Examples of hard breaklines include drainage structures, road edges,
retaining walls and ridgelines. Soft breaklines include road centrelines and locations of gentle changes in slope.
