3D aerial fly through over Portland and Cape Nelson wind farm, Victoria
3D fly through over Portland, Victoria generated from aerial photogrammetry
The city of Portland is the oldest European settlement in what is now the state of Victoria, Australia. It is the main urban centre of the Shire of Glenelg. It is located on Portland Bay.
The Portland wind farm is one of Australia’s largest wind farms. It consists of four separate sites. The project is expected to produce more than 500 GWh annually, enough electricity to power about 125,000 homes each year, and equal to more than 7% of Victoria’s residential electricity demand, or powering a city the size of Geelong.
In this video, you can see the Cape Nelson South wind farm comprises 22, 2MW generators as well as part of the main town.
This video has been generated using 20cm digital aerial photography using a Microsoft UltraCam camera system. The data has been processed to produce a large seemless ortho-mosaic and a 90cm digital surface model.
